Introduction
The National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC), a consultative body for the president,
was established in November, 1999, under Article 93 in the Constitution of the Republic of Korea.
The scope of the NEAC activities covers national strategies and policies concerned
with economic development, social welfare and international economic cooperation.
The appointed council members are 29 eminent figures from a variety of areas including academia,
think-tanks, industry, and the press.
Senior government ministers also join the Council as official members.
The NEAC is comprised of four subcommittees, specializing in macroeconomy & fincance,
welfare & employment, innovation economy, balanced economy.
